The plant family cannabaceae includes what are commonly known as cannabis (or marihuana) and hemp. Cannabaceae plants with a THC content of less than 0.3% are classified as hemp, and those with 0.3% THC or higher are classified as marihuana. Hemp is typically grown for textiles, construction materials and cannabinoid-rich oil with low, non-intoxicating traces of THC. Although both classifications are technically cannabis, in our industry, “cannabis” is the term generally used to describe high-THC product.
